The Alexandria wrestling team traveled up to Detroit Lakes on Thursday for a triangular against MAHACA (Morris Area, Hancock Area, Chokio-Alberta) and Detroit Lakes. All three of these teams were very evenly matched and each dual was going to come down to who could win the toss up matches and save/get bonus team points. Unfortunately, the Cardinals came out on the wrong end of both these categories where we lost close toss up matches and couldn't get enough bonus points as a team. MAHACA won 47-30 and DL won 48-30. These things happen some times in wrestling but the guys still had great effort and wrestled tough.

Dylan Gray stepped up to get his first taste of varsity action tonight and got his first varsity win under his belt. Landon Arvidson also stepped up to varsity to fill in at 145 knowing he was up against some of the best wrestlers in the state at that weight and he didn't back down; putting both the #6 ranked wrestler in the state at 145 pounds and a wrestler with over 20 wind on the season on their backs multiple times. It was exciting to watch our guys not back away from good competition. Mason McGrane and Mason Teaser went undefeated on the night and collected bonus points in all four of their matches.

The Cards will look to bounce back when they return to action Friday, traveling to Fergus Falls for a quad with Fergus Falls, Sartell, and OTC.
