Second Half Comeback Attempts Falls Shorts as Spartans Fall to St. Cloud

The M State Men’s basketball team fell behind 47-27 at the half and made a comeback bid in the second half that came up short as they lost in a makeup game against St. Cloud Community and Technical College, 81-71, on Thursday night in Fergus Falls.

The Cyclones shot 52.4% (33-63) from the field and hit 11-of-14 (78.6%) free throws to earn the victory.  They also had a commanding 45-30 advantage on the boards and held M State to 36% (29-80) shooting, including 8-of-41 (19.5%) from 3-point range.

London Williams had a double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds) for the visitors and Manni Ukutegbe had a team high 19 points to go along with 8 boards.  Mason Sohre delivered 11 points off the bench and Tierre Davis was also in double figures with 10.

Langston Davis led four Spartans in double figures with 17 points.  He also had 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists.  Nic Pearson scored 14, Larrie Bell had 13 points and 8 boards, and Mert Taylor contributed 10 points.  Brett Engelmeyer had 8 points off the bench, Renell Edwards dished out 4 assists and Krosby Aasness came up with 4 steals.

M State will travel to Austin to face Riverland on Saturday afternoon.
