The Wadena-Deer Creek girls’ basketball team host a ‘Go Gray for Gary’ night Monday when they hosted Bertha-Hewitt. Fans from both teams were encouraged to wear gray and to donate to support the Packer family as Gary Packer fights brain cancer. Around $13,000 was raised for the family. The Wolverines won the game 60-32.
“What an amazing night rallying together to support Gary and his family,” commented WDC Head Coach Jordan Cresap. “The outpouring of support from both communities and surrounding communities was unbelievable. I cannot thank everyone enough for helping make this event a resounding success. As for the game, our girls came out and played spirited basketball both offensively and defensively. Energy and effort was great from top to bottom. I really liked how well we played together tonight.”
Addyson Gravelle, Montana Carsten and Corra Endres contributed 12 points each to lead the Wolverines and Lauryn Gravelle chipped in with 9 points.
Wadena-Deer Creek (9-8) will play at Henning on Friday night at six o’clock.
Bertha-Hewitt is at home against Sebeka on Friday.
