Swanson Stops 21 Shots as Otter Boys Shutout Wadena-Deer Creek

Ben Swanson saw 21 shots and stopped 21 shots on Saturday afternoon in Wadena as the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team blanked Wadena-Deer Creek 6-0.  The Otters had 25 shots on goal, with Gunner Olson stopping 19 of them.

Isaac Johnson got the Otters on the board at 7:06 of the first period with an assist from Cole Zierden.  Johnson then assisted on a goal by Carter Thielke at 13:30, giving the Otters a 2-0 lead.

Michael DeBrito scored at 8:11 of the second period and again at 14:31 for a 4-0 Fergus Falls advantage.  Shane Zierden assisted on both goals and Andrew Johnson also had an assist on the second goal.  Thielke’s second of the night, a shorthanded tally at 16:48, was setup by Isaac Johnson and Cole Wentworth.

At 10:30 of the third period, Kellen Stenstrom wrapped up the scoring, assisted by Cole Zierden.

Fergus Falls (13-5) will play at Sartell on Monday and at Willmar on Thursday.
