Shooting Woes Lead to Spartan Loss to Western Tech Men

The M State Men's Basketball Team made only 32% (26-81) of their field goal attempts and 10-of-48 (21%) 3-pointers as Western Tech recorded an 85-73 win over the Spartans on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls.

 

M State fell behind 23-11, but scored 13 straight points to take their first lead at 24-23.  The lead changed hands eight times and was tied six times.  Western Tech led 38-36 at the half.

The Cavaliers shot 54% (33-61) from the floor and had three players reach double figures, led by 23 points from Mac Jones, who made 10-of-14 shots from the field.  He also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals.  Josh Hauser added 14 and Cade Badertschere scored 12 off the bench and snared 7 rebounds.  Noah Kearney added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Leaders for M State were Larrie Bell (18 points, 9 rebounds), Renell Edwards (15 points) and Mert Taylor (12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals).  Langston Davis had 8 points and 7 rebounds, and Nic Pearson contributed 9 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

M State (7-11) will host a makeup game with Riverland on Monday night and will entertain Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday.
