Knights shoot 55% in win over Trojans

The West Central Area Knights hit 33-60 shots for 55% in defeating the Ortonville Trojans 84-45 on Thursday night in Barrett. The Knights led 46-22 at the half.  The Knights also dominated the boards 35-20 and forced 26 Trojan turnovers while only committing 8 themselves.

The Knights made 6-18 threes and 12-21 free throws. The Trojans made 9-23 threes and 6-11 free throws.

"We played well as a team again tonight," said Knight coach Kraig Hunter. "We played 17 different players in the game and we had 26 assisted baskets on 33 field goals. The passing and unselfishness was great to see."

Cole Anderson led the Knights with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. Ryder Staples joined Anderson with 15 points.

Jacob Strunk and Bryce Kjesbo were also both in double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively, and they were the two rebounding leaders grabbing 6 boards each.

Mitch Dewey and Cam Anderson both turned in all-around games. Dewey scored 9 points, grabbed 2 boards, 2 steals, and dished out 3 assists while Anderson had 5 points, 4 rebounds, a team high 8 assists, and 2 steals.

Other key contributors were Isaac Kreft with 4 points and 3 rebounds, Roman Mihailovschi with 4 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals; Ben Bye with 3 points, Tyler Biss with 2 points, 4 rebounds, and a blocked shot; and Damon Sanstead with 2 points.

Scoring for the Trojans was Hunter Merritt with 20 points, Owen Longnecker with 18, Carter Powell with 5 and Alex Meyer with 2.

The Knights move to 12-3 on the season.
