The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team traveled to Crookston on Thursday night and fell behind 3-0 to the Pirates early in the second period. The Otters rallied to tie the game and force overtime before winning it at 1:03 of the extra session on a goal by Hannah Johnson, assisted by Maddie Hulter and Marilyn Karsnia.
Brynley Coleman put Crookston ahead at 5:24 of the opening period with assists from Brekken Tull and Cassie Solheim. The Pirates made it 2-0 at 15:54 of the first period when Addison Fee scored a short-handed goal from Aleah Bienek.
Fee netted an unassisted power play goal at 5:27 of the third to make it a 3-0 lead for the home team. Tyra Skjeret got the Otters on the board at 6:38. Hulter and Skye Norgren earned assists.
An unassisted power play goal by Gabby Brimhall at 3:37 of the third period cut the Crookston lead to 3-2 and an unassisted even strength goal by Jaden Bye tied the game at 9:55 of the third, setting up the overtime period.
Fergus Falls had 30 shots on goal and Crookston managed just 17.
The Otters (16-3-2) will host Moorhead on Monday night.
