The Pelican Rapids boys’ basketball team was in command from start to finish on Thursday night as they built a 36-7 halftime lead against Frazee and went on to record a 66-26 win over the Hornets in a Heart O’ Lakes Conference contest.

“We were much more active and aggressive defensively tonight than we had been in a while which was good to see,” stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “Our defensive pressure got us out into transition on offense and led to some easy baskets when guys ran the floor. We were a little too sloppy on offense however as we had some turnovers on passes that we need to clean up. Overall it was a good effort from our guys tonight that hopefully we can build on going into next week.”

Brayden Ecker led the Vikings with 17 points.  Brady Petznick and Hunter Williams were also in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Pelican Rapids (11-4, 6-1 HOL) will host Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Saturday and Wadena-Deer Creek on Monday.

Frazee (3-9, 1-5 HOL) travels to New York Mills Saturday afternoon and will host host Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Monday.
