The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team went into the third period trailing Sartell/Sauk Rapids 3-2.  The Otters found a way to win the game, scoring a pair of third period goals to take a 4-3 win on their home ice.

Desirae Maack gave the Otters a 1-0 lead just 5:30 into the game with an assist from Maddie Hulter.  Sartell/Sauk Rapids responded with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead after the first period.  Tia Vogt scored from Brooke Pogatchnik at 13:16 and Brayley Vandenberg netted the go ahead goal sixteen seconds later with an assist going to Kelly Jo Carriere.

A power play goal by Anna Lundeen at 10:08 of the second period made it 3-1 Sartell/Sauk Rapids.  Assists went to Carriere and Vogt.  Fergus Falls answered with a power play goal of their own in the final minute as Marilyn Karsnia found the back of the net off an assist from Gabby Brimhall.

5:19 into the third period the Otters tied the game on a Hannah Johnson goal, assisted by Piper Andrews and Karsnia.  The game winner came with 10:03 left in the game as Andrews scored from Lizzy Moxness.

Ana Jyrkas made 17 saves in the Fergus Falls net and the Otters had 28 shots on goal.

“A CLC grinder tonight, these conference games are always tough,” noted Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “Not our prettiest win, but we found a way.  I’m proud of the girls for sticking with it, leaning on each other, and finishing.”

Fergus Falls (15-3-2) will play at Crookston on Thursday night.
