The M State Men’s Basketball team won a makeup game in Worthington on Monday night, taking a 48-35 lead at halftime on the way to a 98-93 victory over Minnesota West. M State shot 43% (34-79) from the floor and Minnesota West hit 42.5% (34-80) of their field goal attempts.
The Spartans placed six players in double figures, led by 22 points from Renell Edwards, who also had 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Mert Taylor added 21 points and Langston Davis finished with 12 points and 6 boards. Brett Engelmeyer, Nic Pearson and Larrie Bell chipped in with 10 points each. Bell also had 6 rebounds and Pearson came up with 5 steals.
London Campbell’s double-double (20 points, 12 rebounds) led the Bluejays. Christian Kyles added 20 points, Amos Alford had 18 and CJ Ligon finished with 17. Minnesota West won the rebounding battle 53-46.
M State (7-9) snapped an eight game losing streak with the win. They will host Ridgewater on Wednesday night.
