Knights move to 11-2 with win over Rockets

The West Central Area Knights defeated the Underwood Rockets 83-48 in Barrett on Saturday after taking a 53-31 halftime lead.  The Knights hit 36-70 from the field for 51% and hit 8-22 threes 36%. They made 3-5 free throws.  The Rockets also shot the ball really well hitting 18-35 shots for 51% and made 7-15 threes for 46%. They made 5-11 free throws. The Knights held a 33-21 edge on the boards and forced 32 Rocket turnovers while turning the ball over 13 times themselves.

Knights Coach Kraig Hunter said, "Underwood is a skilled young team that can really shoot the ball well.  The difference was that we got up twice as many shots since we were able to get 15 offensive rebounds and forced 32 turnovers."

The Knights placed four players in double figures with Ryder Staples scoring 21 points while adding 4 steals and 3 assists, Cole Anderson completed a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds while also getting 3 assists and 3 steals. Nasir Dotts had 14 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals; and Cam Anderson had 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

Mitch Dewey also added 9 points along with 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, Bryce Kjesbo had 4 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist; Roman Mihailovschi had 3 points and a rebound. Brett Amundson had 2 points.  Isaac Kreft had 2 rebounds and a steal; Damon Sanstead had 2 rebounds. Dane Anderson, Brady Lindquist, Brayden Stark and Tyler Biss all grabbed one rebound.

Underwood was led by Cole Peterson and Kaleb Hammes with 12 points each, Gavin Pausch scored 7, Owen Harig had 6, Evan Lundgren had 6, Hudson Risbrudt 3, and Drew Evavold 2.

“We played sound defensive game, and did a good job of help defense and boxing out,” said Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. “We just turned the ball over too much in stretches against their press.”
