The M State Men’s Basketball team traveled to Rochester on Saturday afternoon where they suffered a 72-51 defeat at the hands of the Yellowjackets. M State shot just 27.3% (18-66) from the field, making just 22% (8-36) of their 3-point tries. Rochester shot 42% on the day.
Leaders for M State were Brett Engelmeyer (15 points, 4 rebounds), Mert Taylor (10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists), Renell Edwards (9 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds) and Nic Pearson (8 points, 3 steals, 2 assists, 4 rebounds). Larrie Bell added 7 rebounds for the Spartans.
Peyton Dunham (19 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists) and Keivonte Watts (18 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals) led Rochester. Quentin Williams added 12 boards and 5 assists to go along with 5 points.
M State (6-9) has lost eight straight games. They have a makeup game against Minnesota West on Monday in Worthington and will host Ridgewater on Wednesday night.
