Hancock traveled to Wheaton for a Pheasant Conference girls’ basketball matchup on Thursday night and the Owls ran their winning streak to start the season to 12 games with a 54-46 victory over the Warriors. Hancock won the rebounding battle 31-19 and shot 50% (19-38) from the field, while holding Wheaton/Herman-Norcross to 34% (15-44).
Kaitlyn Rohloff had a big night for the visitors, scoring 19 points, dishing out 2 assists, coming up with 2 steals and pulling down 3 rebounds. Carlee Hanson added 13 points, 9 boards, 3 steals and 3 deflections. Kaitlyn Staples had 8 points, 2 assists and 3 rebounds.
Brylie Schultz led all scorers with 25 points for the Warriors and Julia Schmidt added 9.
Hancock (12-0) has a one o’clock home game Saturday with New York Mills.
Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (7-2) saw their 7 game winning streak come to an end with the loss. They will try to regroup when the play at Pelican Rapids on Saturday at 2:00pm.
