The Lady Cards hit home ice Tuesday night against section rival, Brainerd. The last time these two teams met was in the section semifinals last season. The Lady Cards came out with some great hockey plays, again!! Finding the back of the net 5 times in a 5-2 win was a huge confidence booster as they head through the remainder of the regular season.

Brainerd would get on the board first with a late first period goal to go up 1-0 after one.

Cadence Ellingson would get the Cards on the board midway through the 2nd with a nice goal in front of the net on the PP. MaKenna Aure and Sophia Korynta would get the assists. Riley Nyberg would get her first career shorthanded goal 5 minutes later to take the 2-1 lead to head into the 3rd period.

The Lady Cards came out flying in the 3rd and answered with 3 goals in the span of the first 5:30 minutes of the period. Lauren Maras started things off with a five-hole goal with a nice pass from Hanley Block and MaKenna Aure. Two minutes later, Aure grabbed a nice goal of her own that was assisted by Ella Westlund and Peyton Boesl. Not too long after, Nyberg would take one-timer to net her 2nd goal of the game. Nyberg was assisted by Westlund and Kennedy Ellingson.

Jordan O’Kane earned the W between the pipes with some big time saves in her 22 total. The Lady Cards (6-6-1) look to continue a section sweep on the week as we hit the road Friday against Roseau.
