Pelican Rapids led 37-27 at the half on Monday night and the Vikings were able to hold off a second half rally by Ada-Borup West to record a 78-68 victory over the Cougars.

“It was an up and down night for us tonight as we were sloppy at times on both ends of the court,” stated Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “Defensively, we had a hard time staying in front of the Cougars' guards and offensively we were too soft with the ball and didn't finish inside as well as we could have. We pushed the lead to fifteen with five minutes to go in the game, but had to withstand a rally by the Cougars when they cut it to four with two minutes remaining. It was nice to see us handle the pressure of a close game late and make some free throws to come out with the win.”

Timmy Guler’s 22 points led the Vikings.  He was joined in double figures by Hunter Williams with 13, Tanner Tollerud with 10 and Peyton Blakeway with 10.

Cameron Spaeth produced 33 points to lead the Cougars and Cadyn Dahl added 15.

Pelican Rapids (6-3) will host Hawley on Thursday and will play Oak Grove High School at Perham on Saturday.
