The Fergus Falls girls’ basketball team scored the first 12 points of the game on Thursday night and held a double digit lead for most of the night as they recorded a 58-39 victory over the Alexandria Cardinals. The Otters led from start to finish and held a 30-18 halftime lead.
Ellie Colbeck (18 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals) led the Otters once again. She made 4 of the Otters ten 3-pointers. Tori Ratz dished out a team high 7 assists and scored 9 points, and Ainsley Hansen had 8 points and 5 rebounds, to go along with 3 steals. Hannah Polejewski secured 6 rebounds. Brynn Sternberg and Karley Braeger each made a pair of 3’s to finish with 6 points and Cyntreya Lockett also scored 6 points.
"This was a great team win for us," said Fergus Falls Head Coach Josh Steer. "A lot of girls contributed and we really set the tone with a fast start. I thought we played very strong defense against a young, but good CLC team."
Alexandria had two players in double figures, led by Chloe Scholl with 12 points and Hadley Thul with 11. Macee Linow scored 8 points.
Fergus Falls (7-3) will play at St. Cloud on Tuesday night.
Alexandria (4-6) has home games with Sartell on Tuesday and Bemidji on Friday on next week.
