Alexandria Girls Top Otters 4-2

Alexandria scored a pair of power play goals on Thursday night as they recorded a 4-2 Central Lakes Conference girls’ hockey victory in Fergus Falls.  The Cardinals were outshot 26-25.

Sophia Korynta netted a power play goal at 10:34 of the first period with an assist from Cadence Ellingson.  Fergus Falls tied the game with a shorthanded goal by Hannah Johnson, assisted by Gabby Brimhall.

The Cardinals scored a pair of goals within a minute of each other to increase their lead to 3-1.  Lauren Maras scored from Hanley Block and MaKenna Aure at 3:43 and Peyton Boesl scored from Kennedy Ellingson and Lauren Rebrovich at 4:42.  Rylynn Krein cut the lead to 3-2 at 9:05 with an assist from Lizzy Moxness.

A power play goal by Kennedy Ellingson at 13:18 of the third period was assisted by Riley Nyberg and Peyton Boesl.

Alexandria (5-6-1) will host Bemidji at 1:15pm Saturday. 

Fergus Falls (12-2-1) will play at St. Cloud on Tuesday.
