Lady Spartans Come up Short Against Anoka-Ramsey

Anoka-Ramsey finished the game strong on Thursday night as they handed the M State lady Spartans a 71-64 loss in Coon Rapids.  The lady Spartans held a slim two-point lead after three quarters, but were outscored 17-9 over the final ten minutes as the Rams were able to improve  their record to 10-1.

Mackenzie Foss led four Spartans in double digits with 17 points.  Jayna Gronewold added 16, Emily Dehler had 14 and Lindsey Kurz added 11.  Foss completed her double-double with 10 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.  Kurz also had a double-double, securing 13 rebounds.  M State shot 37.5% of their field goal attempts and Anoka-Ramsey edged the lady Spartans on the boards, 47-46.

“The girls played great tonight,” said Spartan Head Coach Jodi Holleman.  “Mackenzie played a whale of a game and held their leading scorer to 5 buckets!”

The Rams were led by Hailey Babcock and Piper Flemming with 14 points apiece.  Demaiyah Hill added 13, and Lachantice Baggett and Mikayla Kanenwisher contributed 12 each.  Kananwisher and Natiya Smith led them with 8 rebounds each and Hill had a team high 4 assists.  Anoka-Ramsey shot 38.7% from the floor.

M State (6-5) will play at Western Wisconsin Tech on Saturday afternoon.
