Wadena-Deer Creek led 28-26 at the half and put up 35 second half points while holding Henning to 31 as the Wolverines posted a 63-57 girls’ basketball victory on Tuesday night in Wadena.

Lauryn Gravelle poured in a team high 19 to lead the wolverines.  WDC made 10-of-12 free throw attempts.  Addyson Gravelle scored 14 and Montana Carsten made three 3’s and finished with 13 points.

Lyvia Misegades had a huge game for the Hornets, making three 3’s on the way to a 36 point night.  Faith Fisher contributed 9 points.

“Girls battled tough against a very good Henning team,” said Wadena-Deer Creek Head Coach Jordan Cresap. “Misegades was unbelievable tonight and made some big time plays for Henning. Despite her success, we stayed the course and battled tough through the good and bad. Various girls hit some high pressure shots down the stretch. We played good solid team basketball all throughout and I’m proud of our kids!”

Henning (6-3) will host New York Mills on Friday night and Wadena-Deer Creek (5-3) will host Pillager on Thursday and will play at Staples-Motley on Saturday.
