Jayna Gronewold scored 26 of her game high 32 points in the first half on Thursday night and Emily Dehler registered another double-double with 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the lady Spartans to an 89-58 victory over the Itasca Vikings.
M State shot 46% (35-76) from the floor and made 16-of-18 free throws in the game. They struggled from beyond the arc, making only 3-of-17 treys for 17.6%. The lady Spartans held a commanding 46-28 advantage on the boards.
Itasca hit 38.5% (25-65) of their field goal attempts. They were led by Mya Roberts with 23 points and Haley Murray with 15. Maddi Taylor, Hailey Giacommini and Murray each snared 7 rebounds to lead the lady Vikings.
Dehler and Gronewold led M State with 5 and 4 assists, respectively. Mackenzie Foss joined them in double digits with 11 points.
The lady Spartans are 6-4. They will play at Anoka-Ramsey on Wednesday.
