Owls Shut Down Benson at RTR Tourney

The Hancock boys’ basketball team allowed only 13 first half points and 35 points for the game on Wednesday as they handled Benson 72-35 at the RTR Tournament.  The Owls held a 34-18 edge on the boards.

Matt Thompson registered a double double with 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead Hancock.  Luke Joos added 16 points, including four 3’s, secured 5 rebounds and dished out 8 assists.  Sebastian Felix and Chase Evink added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Owls made 27-of-54 (50%) shots from the field.  They connected on 11-of-27 (41%) of their 3-pointers.

Juan Espinoza nailed six 3’s on the way to a team high 22 points for the Braves.  Benson made 28% (13/46) of their field goal attempts.

Hancock (4-2) is off until Thursday, January 6 when they host the Ortonville Trojans.
