Three Point Halftime Leads Holds Up as Perham Beats Sauk Centre

The Perham boys’ basketball team held a 25-22 halftime lead on Wednesday and maintained that lead through the second half as they took a 52-49 victory over the Sauk Centre Mainstreeters at the Grand8 Tournament in Perham.

Soren Anderson (15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists), Micah Thompson (11 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists), Jacob Daniels (9 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals) and Chas Melvin (8 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists) led the Yellowjackets.

Perham made 43% (15-35) of their field goal attempts and buried 7-of-15 3’s for 47%.  They also knocked down 15-of-24 free throws.  Perham won the rebounding battle 29-21.

Sauk Centre placed three players in double figures, led by Jay Neubert and Macoy Thiesen with 16 points apiece.  Matthew Warring finished with 10 points.  The Mainstreeters shot 39% (18-46) from the field, but struggled from behind the 3-point line, making only 3 of 19 attempts.

Perham (4-1) will play at Detroit Lakes on Tuesday, January 4.
