River Lakes scored a pair of first period goals and made them stand up for a 2-1 win over the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team on Tuesday night.  The Otters held a 24-19 advantage in shots on goal.

“We lost a tough one tonight,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Mike Donaghue.  “Didn’t come out with any energy and found ourselves down 2-0.  River Lakes played a defensive game and did not give us much time and space.  They beat us to loose pucks and won the 50/50 puck battles.”

Bradley Blaschko gave River Lakes a 1-0 lead with an assist from Blake Schultz at 2:17 of the first period.  At 16:15 Anthony Fink scored from Chase Wright and River Lakes led 2-0.

In the second period Landon Thacker got the Otters on the board with assists from Cole Zierden and Kellen Stenstrom.

Winning goalie Carson Cronquist had 23 saves in the River Lakes net.

Ben Swanson stopped 17-of-19 shots on goal.
