The Hawley Nuggets had things working on both ends of the floor Saturday as they scored 85 points and gave up only 41 in a non-conference win over the Crookston Pirates.

“Our guys had a really big first half today,” commented Hawley Head Coach Nathan Stoa.  “We took care of business, and continued to turn defense into offense. Most importantly, the kids shared the ball extremely well, which we want to be a staple of Nugget Basketball. We did have a couple defensive lapses and lost Crookston’s go-to player, Jack Garman, one too many times. No matter our opponent, our expectations don’t change. Regardless of the scoreboard we can always find ways to improve as a unit.”

Sam Senske and Mason Gratton led the Nuggets with 22 and 16 points, respectively.  Bailey Thomson added 9 points and Carson Brew chipped in with 8.

Garman led Crookston with 19 points.

Hawley (5-0) is off until Thursday, December 30 when they will travel to Rothsay to face the Tigers in another non-conference affair.
