Fergus Falls put 32 shots on the Owatonna net Saturday afternoon, however, goaltender Preston Meyer was stingy in the Owatonna net, making 29 saves on 30 shots.  The Otters registered a 3-0 win with the final two Otter goals coming with the Owatonna net empty.

The first period was scoreless, but Isaac Johnson got the Otters on the scoreboard in the second period, assisted by Michael DeBrito and Colin Becker.

Johnson notched his second of the game and his tenth of the season at 16:24 of the third period, putting the puck in the empty net with an assist from DeBrito.  Twenty-nine seconds later Cole Zierden scored in the empty net with Landon Thacker earning an assist.

“Their goalie stood tall in the net and their defense really packed it in around the net,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Mike Donaghue.  “We need to find ways offensively to create some chaos and generate some different scoring opportunities.”

Ben Swanson stopped all 13 Owatonna shots on goal for his second shutout of the season.

Fergus Falls improved their season record to 7-1 with the victory.

"We played an excellent game defensively, only allowing 13 shots," stated Fergus Falls Head Coach Mike Donaghue

The Otters will travel to face River Lakes on Tuesday and will host their annual Holiday Hockey Classic December 27 through December 29, playing three games in three days.
