The Fergus Falls VFW Bantam A team returned to home ice to take on the Alexandria Bantam AA team on Friday night.  The Otters and the Cardinals have a long standing rivalry.  Both teams were looking for the win.

Just two minutes into the first period Michael Schmidt put the Otters on the board.  His goal was assisted by Cam Alt and Jack Welde.  Just 17 seconds later Adam Kennedy scored, assisted by Kile Beck.  That would be the final Fergus Falls goal of the game.  Unfortunately, the Otters were not able to hold the Cardinals and the game ended with a 9-2 loss.

Saturday morning the Otters traveled to Crosby to battle with the Northern Lakes Lightning.  The Lightning came out strong, taking a 4-0 lead at the end of the first period.  The Otters were able to get 2 goals in the second, scored by Alt and Aiden Schake.  In the third period the Otters Kennedy put the final goal on the board.  The Lightning won by a final score of 13-3.

Sunday afternoon, the Otters returned to the Fergus Falls Community Ice Arena for their final game of the weekend, taking on the Fargo Freeze.  The teams battled hard in the first period.  The Freeze were first to get a goal on the board, but the Otters answered with a goal from Schmidt, assisted by Welde, ending the first period tied at 1-1.  In the second period, the Otters were not able to get past the Freeze goalie as the home team fell behind 3-1.  After a pep talk from the coaches, the Otters came out in the third period with a strong defense, keeping the Freeze from scoring again.  The Otters got a pair of unassisted goals from Alt and Brock Scheuerman to tie the game.  They continued the scoring with a goal from Beck, assisted by Welde, Alt with an assist from Beck and Schake from Beck and Alt as they won 6-3.  Goalie Holden Stenstrom showed great strength and goaltending over the weekend with a total of 121 saves.

The Otters are coached by Pete Gaustad, Mike Alt, Matt Koalska and Dustin Wynn.

The Otters are grateful to the VFW for their continued sponsorship and support.  Their next game is scheduled for Saturday, December 18 at 2:30pm in Wadena.
