Barnesville was trailing 23-13 late in the first half but they closed the half on a 10-2 run to pull to within two points at 25-23. Perham hit a shot at the buzzer at the end of regulation to tie the game at 42-42, forcing overtime.
“We switched up our defense in the second half and that helped us control their shots better,” said Barnesville Assistant Coach Tracy Hinsz.
Barnesville shot 36% (17-47) from the field and outscored the Yellowjackets 19-4 on the free throw line. The Trojans also held a slim 46-42 edge on the boards. Rebound leaders were Kaden Zenzen with 13 and Inniger with 9. Cam Heng finished with 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Perham struggled with their shooting, hitting only 29% (19/65) of their field goal attempts and 4-of-10 free throws. Soren Anderson (18 points, 11 rebounds) led the way with a double-double for the Yellowjackets. Jacob Daniels added 8 points and 8 rebounds and Micah Thompson contributed 7 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists.
