The Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team took a 2-0 lead into the third period and added four third period goals for a 6-1 win over Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday night at the Community Arena in Fergus Falls.

Michael DeBrito scored at 8:08 of the opening period with an assist from Kellen Stenstrom.  At 10:08 Isaac Johnson made it 2-0 with assists from Carter Thielke and Colin Becker.

In the third period Landon Thacker scored at 3:45, assisted by Stenstrom.  Isaac Johnson got his second of the night, unassisted, at 4:28.  Thacker’s second goal of the period was also setup by Stenstrom at 5:42.  Fergus Falls increased their lead to 6-0 when Thielke scored from Isaac Johnson at 15:03.

The lone Sauk Rapids-Rice goal came from Gunnar Jacobson with an assist going to Braden Kuklok.

Ben Swanson came up with 10 saves in the game and the Otters put 33 shots on goal.

"We had a good first period, but Sauk Rapids did a good job taking lanes away and slowing us down through the second," said Fergus Falls Head Coach Mike Donaghue.  "Isaac Johnson was strong on the puck with 3 points and created a lot of chances, and Landon Thacker stepped up with a pair of goals."

Fergus Falls (4-0) will host Hutchinson at 2:00pm Saturday.
