Ellie Colbeck (31 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals) put together an impressive performance from start to finish on Tuesday night to lead the Fergus Falls girls’ basketball team to a 71-48 victory over Sartell-St. Stephen. The game saw 7 lead changes and 3 ties in the first half, however, the Otters pulled away with a 14 point run late in the half to take a 38-28 halftime lead.
“Great team win tonight against a tough CLC opponent,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Josh Steer. “Our defense played solid, especially in the 2nd half. I thought we came out and set the tone early in the second half. Offensively, we had 3 girls in double figures, 21 team assists, and rebounded the ball extremely well tonight."
Tori Ratz nailed four first half 3’s on the way to a 16 point night. She also distributed 6 assists, grabbed 3 steals and had 5 rebounds. Ainsley Hansen contributed a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, 7 of them coming on the offensive end. She also had 5 assists. Brynn Sternberg also dished out 5 assists.
Sartell-St. Stephen was led by Avery Templin with 13 and Emily Crandall with 10. The Sabres lost for the first time in three games this season.
Fergus Falls (2-0) will now travel to Rocori for another CLC contest on Friday.
