Ramos and Willprecht Finish First at St. Michael-Albertvile Invitational

The Perham Wrestling team kicked started the new season with a fifth place finish at the St. Michael-Albertville Invitational on Saturday, December 4. The hosts St. Michael-Albertville Knights claimed their home tournament with 238 points. Waconia was second with 227 points, followed by Forest Lake, St. Cloud Tech and Perham. The Yellowjackets finished with 126.5 points in the 10 team tournament field.

The Yellowjackets secured two individual wins with Brian Ramos and Reese Willprecht. On his way to the crown at 182, Ramos captured his 100th career win for the Yellowjackets. Ramos posted a perfect 3-0 day and defeated Waconia's Alex Riley 11-5 in the championship.

Willprecht posted a perfect day as well, winning all three matches on his way to the title at 285. He defeated Gabe Kamann of Waconia in the championship by fall in 41 seconds.

Blake Lorentz and Hudson Hackel recorded third place finishes, while Johnny Ramos earned a fourth place finish. Chandler Mickelson and Carson Byer each finished in fifth place in their respective weight classes.

The Yellowjackets open their home schedule with a triangular against Bemidji and Thief River Falls on Tuesday, December 7. The first dual is set to begin at 5:00pm at the Hive.
