The Alexandria girls’ hockey team registered an 8-0 shutout victory over Sartell/Sauk Rapids on Thursday night at the Runestone Community Center. Kaci Trosvig, Hanley Block and MaKenna Aure each added a pair of goals as the Cardinals put 42 shots on the net.
Block got the party started with an assist from Kennedy Ellingson at 2:20 of the opening period. At 14:55 Trosvig scored from Ellingson and Riley Nyberg.
Aure’s first goal at 5:11 of the second period was setup by Lauren Maras and Block notched her second goal with an assist from Sophia Korynta at 13:40.
Trosvig converted a power play goal from Aure at 2:30 of the third and Peyton Boesl also scored on the power play at 5:48 with an assist from Block. Aure added her second goal at 13:50 from Maras and Cadence Ellingson scored an unassisted goal at 15:41 to complete the scoring.
Alexandria goaltender HaileeAnn Bailey stopped all 12 shots she faced in her first start of the season.
