Five Underwood players were in double digits on Tuesday night as they opened their season with an 85-20 victory over Rothsay in Little Eight Conference Girls Basketball action.  The Rockets led 45-8 at halftime.

Elizabeth Lukken had a game high 21 points, Kallyn Grove had 17 points and 8 rebounds, Moraes Bugbee contributed 11 points, 4 rebounds and 8 steals, Alayna Evavold had 12 points and 7 boards and Ezrah Baker finished with 10 points for the Rockets.

“Super proud of the focus the girls showed for the first game, the jitters were not there,” commented Head Coach Brian Hovland of the Rockets.  “Our length on defense and willingness to give up a good shot for a great one was awesome to see.”

Kenadi Carlsrud and Elli Meyer led the Tigers with 6 and 5 points, respectively.

“Underwood is a well-coached team and they play hard,” noted Rothsay Head Coach Anita Heier.  “We learned a lot about ourselves and our weaknesses.  We look forward to working hard to improve these aspects of the game.”

Underwood will play at Parkers Prairie on Friday, while Rothsay has a home game against Waubun at 3:00pm Saturday.
