The West Central Area girls’ basketball team is poised to challenge for a return trip to the state tournament with a strong senior class coming back from last year’s successful 17-6 season.  They are led by 3-time Pheasant Conference MVP Lexi Bright, who last year established a new school record for career points scored.

Bright is joined by fellow seniors Elizabeth Rustan (G/F/C), Kennedy Ulrich (F), Halle Foslien (G/F/C), Halle Grosz (G) and Kaitlyn Hanson (G), junior Claire Stark (F/C), sophomore Sydney Ulrich (G) and freshmen Mya Foslien (G/F), Macy Grosz (F/G), Addison Staples (F/C) and Jayden Styba (F) as returning letter winners.

“We have a well-rounded team that can play multiple styles of basketball,” commented Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer (8th year) of the Knights.  “We like to think of ourselves as aggressive and determined.  This summer with a number of injuries we were working through we have not had much time together working on specifics.”

Naomi Moerke, Eli Dotts and Todd Bright will assist Coach Schoenbauer.  Schoenbauer says Hancock and Wheaton will be the main challengers to WCA in the Pheasant Conference.  The Knights are new to Section 3AA.  New London-Spicer won the 3AA title last season.

“Our goals as a coaching staff are to put people in positions that fit their abilities, help the girls become a team that communicates and exhibits extreme effort, and guide them to their true potential and help them realize they can achieve more than they think,” concluded Coach Schoenbauer.
