Mound Westonka Defeats Alexandria Girls with 3 Late Goals

Mound Westonka had twice as many shots on goal (51-26) as Alexandria on Friday night as the Cardinals fell at home to the White Hawks, 4-2.

Sydney Leonard’s unassisted goal at 9:57 of the second period gave the visitors a 1-0 lead, however, the Cardinals took a 2-1 advantage with a pair of third period goals.  The first came 1:28 into the final period when Kaci Trosvig scored from Lauren Rebrovich and Kylie LattimerHanley Block’s goal at 7:12, assisted by Kennedy Ellingson, put Alexandria ahead.

Mound Westonka scored the final three goals in a four-minute span of the third period to earn the victory.  Gretta Pioske (Camryn Hargreaves, Sydney Leonard), Greer Hardacre (Ellison Lundquist) and Camryn Hargreaves (Emily Wendorf, Sydney Leonard) accounted for the scoring with the final goal coming on the power play.

White Hawks goalie Ashlyn Roth made 24 stops in the net, while Jordan O’Kane came up with 47 saves in the Alexandria goal.
