Bryan Dunrud has been coaching New York Mills girls’ basketball for 17 years and his Eagles are coming off a successful season a year ago which saw them finish 14-5 overall and 9-3 in the Park Region Conference.  Dunrud will be assisted by JJ Weller and Creedan Dunrud.  The Eagles lost Anna Meech and Cydnie Polman to graduation, but have a solid core of returners entering the 2021-22 season.

“Some strengths on this team include the fact that we have experienced players coming back in our system that have size and athleticism to create on the offensive and defensive side of the ball,” reported Coach Dunrud.  “We will need to create depth on our roster with some of our younger players to fill and challenge for spots on the rotation throughout the year.”

Seniors MacKenzie Gilster, Moriah Geiser and Megan Reidel, juniors Bella Bauck, Aidyn Baune, Kailey Keskitalo, Maya Radniecki and Kali Olson, and freshman Ayla Olson are all back from last season.

Sophomores Abby Reidel, Grace Brasel and Katherin Garcia, along with freshman Alayna Baune and eighth-grader Annika Dunrud are all looking to compete for varsity court time.

Coach Dunrud points to Hancock and Underwood as the top teams in Section 6A, while Henning and Menahga are the teams to beat in the PRC.
