The Fergus Falls Otters Girls Swimming and Diving team had a great showing at the section 8A Championship in Detroit Lakes on Saturday. The team placed 3rd overall and dropped almost 100 seconds from their seed times. The Otters are sending two relay teams to compete at the state championship on Friday, 11/19 at the U of M Aquatic Center. The medley relay made up of Aisling Cox, Karlie Petersen, Emilie Carlson, and Annie Mayer, and the 200 Freestyle Relay of Emilie Carlson, Mayah Fear, Annie Mayer, and Alexis Wellman. Emilie Carlson qualified for state in both of her individual events, 200 IM and 100 Fly.
Perham qualified both divers, Brittney Lorentz and Avery McAllister. Taylor Ziemke won the 50 freestyle and was runner-up in the 100 freestyle.
Park Rapids won the Section 8A team title with a winning total of 483.5 points. DL was second with 407, followed by Fergus Falls at 331, Perham/New York Mills at 256, Thief River Falls with 239.5, Fosston-Bagley with 127, Warroad/Roseau/Greenbush/Middle River with 121 and Crookston with 78.
