The M State Men’s basketball team opened their season with a 110 to 95 victory over the Presentation College JV squad on Wednesday in Aberdeen, South Dakota.  The Spartans led 67-61 at the half and allowed only 34 second half points, while scoring 43.

M State forced 41 turnovers on the night and recorded 29 steals.  The Spartans shot 46.3% (38-82) from the field and made 12-of-39 (30.8%) 3’s.

Langston Davis had a big night, making 13-of-15 field goal attempts and leading M State with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 5 steals.  Tyler Loe (15), Jonathan Robinson (12), Mert Taylor (11), Renell Edwards (10) and Brett Engelmeyer (10) joined Davis in double figures.  Carter Cresap had 5 steals and dished out 6 assists and Edwards added 4 assists and 4 steals.  Robinson and Jaden Lee also had 4 steals apiece.

"It is never easy to go play on the road, regardless of competition, and I am very proud of how our guys overcame some adversity their first night out,” said M State Head Coach Alex Fodness. “Obviously we have some things that need to get cleaned up in order for us to get to where we want to be, but there are definitely some positives to take away from this first game as well. Langston Davis was great for us all night and Jonathan Robinson was a big spark for us with his defensive pressure. We will get back to work and start preparing for Monday at Concordia."

Presentation shot 50% (31-62) from the field and made 4-of-12 (33.3%) treys.  They held a 39-31 edge on the boards.
