Battle Lake senior Grace VanErp joined athletes across the country on National Signing Day committing to their respective schools of choice by signing their national letters of intent Wednesday.

VanErp has excelled in her time on the OTC track team holding the school record in the triple jump, while also being a major contributor to the sprint relay teams. Vanerp has qualified for the state meets in two consecutive seasons placing third in triple jump last year.

NDSU has been a powerhouse in the summit league with the women's team winning 13 conference titles in a row; that success was a factor for VanErp as she looked for a home next year. “Their team and winning tradition drew me close to the program. I feel like it is a great honor to be a bison athlete, and since they gave me the opportunity to be a part of that, I didn’t want to let that go.” Grace said on signing day, “ It is also fairly close to home which I like.”

“I’m very excited to watch Grace compete in college”, commented coach Brady Speicher. “She is one that seems to compete at her best when the competition and pressure is high. There is no doubt in my mind that she is going to have success at the next level. I feel very fortunate to be a part of her high school career.”
