Hackel Sets New Career Touchdown Record as Perham Tops Pequot Lakes

Colton Hackel became Perham’s all-time leader in career touchdowns has he now has 48, surpassing the previous record of 47 which was held by Jordan Hein.  The record was set during a 27-7 victory over the Pequot Lakes Patriots on Friday night at Ten Meinhover Field in Perham.

Hackel scored the first touchdown of the game early in the first quarter on a one yard run.  He then kicked the extra point for a 7-0 Perham lead.

A 20 point second quarter put the Yellowjackets in front 27-0 at the half.  Levi Richter scored on a 50 yard run and Gage Germolus then caught a two-point conversion pass from Hackel for a 15-0 lead with 10:51 left in the first half.  Noah Thompson increased the lead to 21-0 with a 36 yard TD run with 5:58 remaining in the half and Hudson Hackel carried the ball into the end zone from 9 yards out with 4:29 remaining to build the lead to 27-0.

The lone Pequot Lakes touchdown came with 8:32 left in the game when Caden Nelson scored on a two yard run and Tommy Blomer added the extra point kick.

Perham finished with 215 rushing yards and 244 yards of total offense.  They were led by Richter (4 carries, 63 yards), Chas Melvin (4 carries, 62 yards) and Thompson (5 carries, 46 yards).  Hackel completed 4-of-11 passes for 29 yards.  Germolus (2 catches, 33 yards) was his leading receiver.  Brian Ramos led the Yellowjackets with 8 (5 solo, 3 assisted) tackles.  Gordon Lee Enyart Martinez added 7 (2 solo, 5 assisted) tackles and also recorded a sack.  Jacob Daniels contributed a sack, while Richter and Josh Peterson each had an interception.

Pequot Lakes had 179 total yards (51 rushing, 128 passing) on the night, led by Nelson (20 carries, 56 yards) and quarterback Grant Loge (10 completions, 24 attempts, 99 yards).  Ryan Harmala (4 catches, 37 yards) was the top receiver.  Defensively, Payton Scott registered a sack and Sean Kilpatrick had a fumble recovery.

Perham finishes their regular season schedule with a record of 5-3.  The Patriots are 1-7 entering the post season.
