The Alexandria Boys Soccer team hosted the Sartell Sabres this past Thursday evening at Viking Bank Field. The last time these two teams met, the match ended in a tie after overtime was played. Tonight's match ended the same way.

The Sabres coming on the scoreboard first in the 2nd minute of play forced the Cardinals to adjust quickly to a faster pace than they set out to play. With some adjustments happening, a foul put Myles Sansted up for a direct kick in which he was able to place for a goal in the 38th minute of play. This ended the half at 1-1.

The second half of the match provided a battle as the teams were working hard chasing another goal that would never come. The teams ended regulation time, and headed into two 5-minute halves of overtime. Unfortunately, neither team could secure a goal to take the win.

This game also provided an opportunity for us to honor the 16 Seniors who are a part of the team this fall,” said Head Coach Brandon Johnson. “These young men have provided great leadership and skill to elevate Cardinal Boys Soccer for years to come. Thank you gentlemen for your dedication to our team.”

Gatorade of the Game went to Holden Hansen who played very strong during his rotations and even more so for his positive attitude on and off the pitch. Holden continued to support his team and rally around them for the full 90 minutes.

The Cardinal Boys Soccer team is now 11-1-3 on the season and will look forward to traveling to Bemidji this Saturday for the last match of the regular season with a kick off at 1pm.
