Fergus Falls overcame an early 7-0 deficit in Perham and went on to claim a 13-7 victory over the Yellowjackets on Friday night.  The Otters improved their season record to 4-1 with the win, while Perham fell to 3-2 on the season.

Colton Hackel got Perham on the board first with a 43 yard, first quarter touchdown run and an extra point kick for a 7-0 lead with 3:13 left in the opening quarter.

Fergus Falls pulled even on a 37 yard run by quarterback Carter Thielke and a Jaydn Manteufel kick with 7:54 left in quarter number two.

Griffin Babolian broke loose for a 55 yard touchdown run with 4:19 left in the third quarter, giving Fergus Falls a 13-7 lead.  Neither team scored again in the contest.

Fergus Falls ran the football extremely well, gaining 295 yards on 42 attempts for an average of 7 yards per carry.  They also had 57 passing yards for 352 total yards of offense.  Thielke had 138 yards on 19 carries and Babolian finished with 111 yards on 12 attempts for the Otters.  Thielke also went 5-for-11 throwing the football for 57 yards.  Luke Newman hauled in 3 passes for 30 yards.  Defensively, Quinn Werner recorded a sack and recovered a fumble, while Sam Sorum picked off a pass.

Perham had 161 (151 rushing, 10 passing) total offensive yards in the game.  Hackel ran for 94 yards on 17 carries and also completed 2-of-10 passes for 10 yards.  Ben Shumansky led the team with 11 tackles and Brian Ramos had 9.  Chas Melvin had an interception return for 57 yards and a fumble recovery for 14 yards.

"This was a great rebound from the loss to Thief River last week," said Fergus Falls Head Coach Steve Olson.  "We made huge improvements in our game against a very good Perham team and it really helped that we were able to establish a running attack.  I'm very proud of the way the kids responded."

Next Friday Fergus Falls will host Roseau at the Otter Stadium Field.
