M State won a tough volleyball battle in Willmar on Wednesday night, recording a 3-1 (25-22, 25-17, 25-27, 25-23) victory over the Ridgewater Warriors.

“The team showed a lot of perseverance tonight,” said head volleyball coach Abby Crowser. “We came from behind in most of the sets and didn’t give up even when Ridgewater had match point numerous times. Looking ahead we are really going to work on being consistent on offense and with our serving so we don’t have to make a comeback so often.”

Bailey Marty, who last week was named the MCAC Defensive Player of the Week for a third time this season, had 54 digs in the match.  Avery Wanner added 15 digs, Kaia Strom had 11 digs and 31 set assists, and Emily Condon finished with 10 digs, 4 blocks and 6 kills.  Anya Maack had 6 kills and 6 blocks, Brooke Hovland contributed 11 kills, and Emily Dehler had 5 kills and 5 blocks.

Condon was a perfect 15-for-15 on the serving line with 1 ace, Strom was 17-for-18 with 2 aces, Marty 16-for-18, Wanner 11-for-13 with an ace, and April Schridde 17-for-22 with 2 aces.  Alaina Anderson served up 3 aces, going 10-for-13 from the line.  Anderson also had 7 kills and 3 blocks.

M State is 8-4 overall and 7-1 against conference opponents.  They will host Riverland Community College at 6:30pm Friday and Minnesota West at noon on Saturday.
