The Alexandria Cardinal Boys Soccer team traveled down I-94 Tuesday night for a 2-point match at Rocori. The Spartans proved to be a worthy opponent as the teams were scoreless at halftime. Both teams played strong but it was the Cardinals who prevailed with a 2-0 victory.

The Spartans played a deep defensive game with a single attacking style, which the Cardinals were able to recognize and adjust to overcome this in the second half. Scoring in the 65th minute of play Otto Anderson put the Cardinals on the scoreboard by collecting a rebound ball off a crossbar shot by Myles Sansted. Then, in the 76th minute of play, Myles Sansted took a 26 yard shot and perfectly wrapped the goal in the upper corner of the net. The assist goes to Jack Carlson. The Cardinals played a very strong 2nd half. The Cardinals continued playing the soccer they have been driving at all year. Good possession, good control. They played together and it showed as they walked on the bus with another one in the win column.

Gatorade of the Game went to Nic Levasseur for his first Varsity goalkeeper start and shutout. Nic played a great game and made some great saves throughout the match keeping the Cardinals in the lead.

The Alexandria Cardinals are now 9-1-1 on the season and currently ranked 11th in the 8AA section and 2nd in the Central Lakes Conference. The Cardinals look to travel to St Cloud Apollo this Thursday evening for a 7pm kickoff.
