The M State volleyball team traveled to Lacrosse, Wisconsin for a Friday match with Western Tech, which they won in 3 sets 25-22, 25-18, 25-17, and then went to Rochester on Saturday where they fell to the Yellowjackets in a hard-fought 5-set match. Scores were 23-25, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-8.
Against Western Tech the Spartans served 90.1%. They were led by Emily Condon (14/14), Bailey Marty (19/20, 4 aces), Alaina Anderson (12/13, 2 aces), Avery Wanner (8/8, 1 ace) and April Schridde (8/9). Brooke Hovland led the attack with 12 kills and added 5 digs. Condon had 6 kills and one block, to go along with 15 digs. Anya Maack had 5 kills and 5 blocks, Anderson finished with 4 kills and 4 blocks, and Emily Dehler also had 4 kills, while recording 8 blocks. Marty had 22 digs and Wanner finished with 10 set assists and 7 digs. Kaia Strom returned to the lineup after missing several matches due to being in COVID protocol. Strom distributed 20 set assists, had 3 kills and 5 digs.
On Saturday, Rochester dropped the first two sets to M State, however, they regrouped and defeated the lady Spartans in the final three sets. Statistical leaders included Maack (12 kills, 7 blocks, Hovland (12 kills, 3 blocks, 3 digs), Anderson (8 kills, 6 blocks, 11/11 serving), Dehler (6 kills, 1 block), Condon (5 kills, 2 blocks, 23 digs, 17/19 serving), Marty (34 digs, 13/16 serving, 1 ace), Wanner (34 set assists, 24 digs, 3 kills, 28/28 serving, 3 aces) and Jayna Gronewold (13/13 serving, 13 digs).
