Ashby-Brandon-Evansville ran at the Milaca Mega Meet on Saturday, with the boys competing in the B-D4 race along with 25 other teams.  “This was the first time the team has been there and it was an adventure,” said Head Coach Robert Bosma. “The team was in awe of the sheer number of runners and they could feel the energy.”

Ashby-Brandon-Evansville placed tenth out of 26 teams in the boys’ race with 331 points.  Parnassus won the event with 92 points.  Heritage Christian Academy was second with 104 points and West Central Area was third, also scoring 104 points.

Jayden Hoidahl led A-B-E with a 43rd place finish and a time of 18:29.4.  Logan Froemming (19:21.7) was 74th, Abram Fossell (19:33.7) 81st, Micah Fossell (19:35.4) 82nd, Wesley Siira (19:40.8) finished 86th, and Kian Gackle (20:43.8) came in 131st.

“For the boys, this was a chance where pack running really helped them out,” added Coach Bosma. “Since the varsity ran in groups for most of the race, none of them took off too fast or struggled throughout the race. Instead, they all ran great races against some of the top runners in the state. Overall, it was an impressive day of racing and A-B-E represented themselves well.”

“Since we do not have a complete varsity girls’ team and no juniors or seniors, each of the girls ran their grade specific race,” noted Coach Bosma. “I let them know that I expected smart races as these were girls from all over running against them and they needed to push themselves through it all. Ashley Paulson (10th Grade, 21:23.6) took 7th after running another great race. Tuyet Vy Bui (9th Grade, 27:33.1), Lacey Siira (8th Grade, 15:37.9), Ayden Beherns (8th Grade, 17:33.9), and Hope Rovang (7th Grade, 16:59.9) all ran some of their fastest times this year. It was great to see their hard work pay off.”
