The Sartell Sabres paid a visit to Fergus Falls on Thursday and handed the Otter girls’ a 6-2 loss in a Central Lakes Conference soccer contest.

In the first twenty minutes the scoring went back and forth as Sartell scored first and the Otters came back with a beautiful cross from the right side and Madi Budke crashed the net and banged it home for her first varsity goal.  Sartell came right back to take a 2-1 lead, but the Otters responded as Tyra Skjeret and Piper Andrews worked the ball up the field with Skjeret playing a perfect ball and Andrews driving to the net pounding it home.  Sartell got one more in the first half to take a 3-2 lead into halftime.

Sartell went on to score three more goals in the second half.

“Tonight’s game was awesome,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “We had a confident center official who allowed the girls to play hard, physical soccer and we had numerous girls step up and play the best soccer of their careers.  I’m so proud of the girls and although the scoreboard didn’t necessarily reflect it, we took another step in the right direction and got better tonight.  Little, consistent improvements will make a big difference in the long run.”
