The Alexandria Cardinal Boys Soccer team traveled down I-94 for a 5pm kick off against Sauk Rapids Rice on Thursday.  The Cardinals recorded a 2-1 Central Lakes Conference victory over the Storm.

The notoriously small field proved a challenge for the Cardinals in the first half as their play wasn't quick enough to keep up. Sauk Rapids scored first in the 14th minute of play. The Cardinals battled back and found their first goal in the 29th minute of play when Thomas Klecker hit a long ball off the crossbar, allowing Myles Sansted the ability to finish off the rebound. This left the first half at 1-1.

The second half was on watch as lighting and questionable weather was inching closer. The Cardinals adjusted their play and quickly found the second goal in the 45th minute of play when Peter Sansted hit a true beauty shot in the upper right corner of the net from 23 yards out. The match was quickly called to finish due to lighting shortly following this goal. This allowed the Cardinals to walk away with a 2-1 win over the Sauk Rapids Storm.

Gatorade of the Game went to Peter Sansted for keeping a positive tone throughout the game and hitting a screaming goal.
