The Brandon-Evansville volleyball team headed to Henning for a match on Tuesday against a strong Hornets squad.  The home team prevailed in 3 sets, winning 25-12, 25-19 and 25-23.

“Coming into the match versus Henning we knew that our success would depend on being consistent in serving and serve receive,” commented Head Coach Kelly Olson.  “We also needed to communicate with purpose on the court and be efficient on offense.  The first set saw us make way too many unforced errors.  Defensively we needed to make adjustments much quicker than we did.  We dug a huge hole and could not get out of it.  Losing 25-12 was tough to watch, but we felt with the set over we could focus on a couple of things that would possibly get us back into the match.  The second set was much better.  We forgot the first set and started to play decent volleyball.  The third set was much like the second.  We were in the set and it was back and forth.  We sided them out to make the score 23-24.  They had a good pass and their middle hitter killed the ball to end the match.  We gave ourselves a chance to win, we just came up short.  Henning is one of those teams that making a wrong play here or there will make a difference.  I thought we could have been more aggressive in our serving game those last two sets.  We gave them too many easy served balls.  The kids played hard.  The team is improving every day.  As long as they keep showing up every day they will get there.”
