Fergus Falls traveled to Park Rapids on Friday night and returned home with a 28-9 victory over the Panthers, improving their season record to 2-0.  The Otters finished with 305 yards of total offense with 192 of them coming on the ground.  Carter Thielke led them with 121 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Park Rapids started the scoring with a 90 yard drive in the first quarter, culminating in a 36 yard fourth-down TD pass from Noah Morris to Logan Jackson.  Morris added the extra point kick for an early 7-0 lead.  The Otters responded with a quick, 75-yard scoring drive as Thielke connected with Cole Zierden on a 72 yard touchdown pass.  The PAT try failed and the Otters trailed 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.

A Landon Thacker one yard run early in the second quarter put the Otters ahead 12-7 and a sack in the end zone by Hayden Dondoneaux made it a 14-7 halftime lead for Fergus Falls.

The Otters gave two points back in the third quarter when a high snap on a punt sailed into the end zone for a safety, cutting their lead to 14-9.  Griffin Babolian scored his first TD of the season on a 3 yard run and Jaydon Manteufel added the extra point kick for a 21-9 lead at the end of the third quarter.

A Cole Wentworth interception set the Otters up for the final score of the night, a sixty yard run by Thielke.  Manteufel added the PAT kick for the 28-9 final score.

"I felt this was a very character building game for the Otters," said Head Coach Steve Olson.  "Give a lot of credit to Park Rapids for making us uncomfortable and having to work really hard for it.  I'm very proud of the our kids for how they responded."

Fergus Falls will play another road game next week as they travel to Pequot Lakes.
