Cowboys Earn First Victory with 20-8 Win Over Parkers Prairie

The Breckenridge Cowboys scored all twenty of their points in the first half, ran for 230 yards and scored on a pair of TD passes from quarterback Cam Nieto as they picked up a 20-8 win over Parkers Prairie on Friday night.

The Cowboys first touchdown of the night came on a 10 yard run by Griffin Bosse.  Nieto carried the ball into the end zone for the two-point conversion and Breckenridge led 8-0.  Nieto’s first TD pass was an 18-yard reception by Dylan Bernotas, giving the Cowboys a 14-0 advantage.  His second TD pass covered 8 yards to Gavin Snyder to stake Breckenridge to a 20-0 halftime lead.

The Parkers Prairie score came in the fourth quarter on a 13 yard TD pass from Cohen Noska to Jacob Wagner.  Wagner then scored the two-point conversion after catching another pass from Noska.

James Mertes gained 100 yards on 21 carries to lead the Breckenridge rushing attack.  Nieto added 53 yards on 8 attempts and completed 5-of-15 passes for 61 yards.  Bernotas was on the receiving end of two of the pass completions for 49 yards.  Bailey Evans forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery to spark the defense.  Landon Blaufuss recorded a sack.  Leading tacklers were Collin Roberts (6 solo, 1 assist) and Alex Tschskert (5 solo).

Noska completed 5 of 11 passes for 88 yards to lead the Panthers.  Bennet Arceneau went 58 yards with his only catch of the night to lead the receivers.  The top rusher was Cole Gesell with 35 yards on 9 carries.  Defensively, Wagner had 9 solo tackles.
